High Blood Pressure in Uniontown

High Blood Pressure in Uniontown

Think of high blood pressure like this. You're holding a garden hose in your hand and there are two ways to increase the pressure coming out of the end of the hose. You can either turn up the faucet and increase the amount of water flow which will increase pressure or, you can crimp/put your thumb over the end which will restrict flow, and the pressure increases. If you want to lower the pressure, then reverse the process. It works the same way in the blood vessels in your body. Read on to learn why chiropractic care in Uniontown thinks there is a big problem with how we currently try and treat High Blood Pressure.

The downfall of Pills to treat High Blood Pressure In Uniontown

Here is the problem, the high blood pressure medications deal with the amount of fluid and not the crimping caused by inflammation. The crimping is the main problem. Most blood pressure medications are dual role medications. They are beta-blockers, ACE inhibitors, or calcium channel blockers. They are also water pills. The water pills remove water or reduce fluid volume. They lower fluid volume, but you can only lower it so much before you start to have side effects of electrolyte imbalance. The way the water pills remove water is by removing electrolytes. Electrolytes are charged minerals such as calcium, magnesium, potassium, and sodium. Electrolytes how the water and maintain fluid balance. The medications work at first, but then you'll require more to do the same job and will suffer the side effects of electrolyte imbalance.

The Solution

The solution in most but not all cases is to deal with the crimping of the blood vessels caused by inflammation. Restricted flow due to inflammation is most likely the cause of high blood pressure. There are other causes, but in any case, this will only help. This can be done with a change of diet and lifestyle. I don't mean cutting out salt or lowering sodium intake. That helps in some cases. You can cut out all salt and sodium but if you don't deal with the inflammation that is restricting flow due to compression of the vessels, the pressure won't come down. There are a few things that you need to change in your diet to bring the inflammation down:

  • Uncontrolled sugar levels as in Type II Diabetes. High blood sugar is the most inflammatory thing that can happen to your blood vessels. High sugar levels cause vessel swelling. The vessels swell outwardly but also inwardly causing compression and restricted blood flow. That is why diabetics who allow the sugar levels to stay elevated go blind or have amputations. The blood vessels swell shut. This cuts off blood supply to whichever organ is at the end of the vessel. See my page on lowering blood sugar naturally under type II diabetes. High triglycerides are a storage form of excess blood sugar and are very inflammatory just as in type II diabetes, but you don't have to be a diabetic to have high triglycerides.
  • High Fructose Corn Syrup is a chemically modified sugar that is turned into triglycerides and are inflammatory for the same reasons above.
  • Processed oils or chemically modified fats and oils like hydrogenated vegetable oils or partially hydrogenated vegetable oil as well as many others. Eat only natural unprocessed fat and oil.
  • Cigarette smoking
  • Monosodium glutamate

Start here by eliminating these 5 things. Even if your pressure doesn't come down, you'll be better off anyway. If you want something different you must do something different. I have lots of patients who want to lower their blood pressure and keep smoking.
